This service includes music by David Bevan (1951-) and Nadia Boulanger (1887-1979).
Nadia Boulanger was a composer, organist, conductor and hugely influential teacher. Her pupils included Aaron Copland, Quincy Jones, Leonard Bernstein and Lennox Berkeley. She was the first woman to conduct several of the US and European symphony orchestras, including the BBC Symphony, Boston Symphony, Hallé Orchestra and New York Philharmonic.
Nadia ceased composing after the death of her sister Lili in 1918. She wrote to Gabriel Fauré, with whom she had studied composition, telling him, 'If there is one thing of which I am certain, it is that my music is worthless.'
The commitment, projection and natural energy of this choir have never failed to inspire me
