Advent Carol Service 2018

Recorded on
Sunday, 25 November 2018

This week's webcast is our own recording of the Advent Carol Service, broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on 2 December 2018.

The service includes a selection of readings, prayers and music for the season of Advent.

The Advent Carol Service traditionally features a premiere of a new work commissioned by the Master and Fellows of the College. This year our commission was Cecilia Mcdowall's setting of A Prayer to St John the Baptist, with words by Guido of Arrezzo and Thomas Merton (adapted by Nicholas Dakin). Also included in the service were two previous St John's Advent commissions: James Burton's Tomorrow shall be my dancing day and Gabriel Jackson's Vox clara ecce intonat.
