11 March 2018 - Choral Evensong

Recorded on
Sunday, 11 March 2018

This first webcast of the Choir's Easter break comes from the Evensong on the last Sunday of the Lent term. It features Howells' 'Collegium Regale' setting of the evening canticles, which strikingly evokes the character of the aged Simeon at the Temple in the Nunc Dimittis through the voice of a solo tenor.

The Anthem, Parry's setting of Psalm 38, comes from Parry's compositional swansong: a set of six 'Songs of Farewell' written in the last two years of his life.
