This week's webcast features the music of Daniel Purcell and William Byrd.

Daniel Purcell (c. 1664 - 1717) became a chorister at the Chapel Royal, following in the footsteps of his celebrated older brother Henry. In his mid-twenties, Daniel was appointed as Organist at Magdalen College, Oxford, and he started to write the first of his major compositions including an ode to St. Cecelia's Day in 1693. In 1695 he moved to London, and consequently started to write music for incidental plays. Of his surviving sacred works, the Evening Service in E minor is the most commonly performed.
