Choral Evensong - 8 November 2016

Recorded on
Tuesday, 13 December 2016

With the College Choir on its Christmas holiday, the first retrospective webcast is the evensong of November 8th, with music by Guerrero and Gabriel Jackson.

Francisco Guerrero (1528 - 1599) was a Spanish composer and singer of both sacred and secular choral music. He showed strong musical prowess from an early age; by the age of seventeen he had already been appointed as the maestro de capilla at Jaén Cathedral. Unlike other Spanish composers of his time such as Morales and Victoria, Guerrero spent much of his musical career in Spain having been appointed as Director of Music in Seville Cathedral.
