Kenneth Leighton's Second Service was commissioned by the Cathedral Organists' Association and bears the dedication 'In memoriam Brian Runnett'. Runnett, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 1970, was Organist and Master of the Choristers at Norwich Cathedral and had previously been an Organ Scholar at St John's under George Guest. The College holds an annual organ competition in his memory.

Bŏgŏroditse Dyevo is part of Rachmaninoff's All-Night Vigil, a setting of texts taken from the Russian orthodox ceremony of the same name. The work, his Op. 37, was written and premiered in 1915 and is said to be one of his two favourite works, along with The Bells.
