This service includes Christopher Tye's Missa Euge Bone. Christopher Tye was awarded a doctorate in music at Cambridge, and was probably born in Cambridgeshire around the year 1505. He is known to have sung as a Lay Clerk at King's College. In 1549 he was appointed Master of the Choristers at Ely Cathedral, and then Organist 10 years later. Tye was writing church music in a time of great political instability, however, like his contemporary Thomas Tallis, he succeeded in composing for both the Anglican and Roman Catholic rites.
